• Question: A long time ago people used to think that emotions came from the heart but these days, we know that the brain controls them. So, I was wondering which part of the brain affects feeling such as love that we may feel for our family and how does it do it?

Not my area! But it’s in the deep cortex of the brain. Take a look at this link to some work done in London: http://archive.student.bmj.com/back_issues/0800/news/264a.html

I know that the area of your brain which controls feelings of love and peace is in the right side in the deep cortex.

Emotions are a difficult thing to understand. I wish I knew more so I could work out why sometimes I get upset and why i love my friends and family so much. I’m sorry I don’t know more on this topic.

      This is a difficult question….

Love is an intangible emotion..it is not something we can see or touch..it is something we feel and is very subjective and probably different for every person…therefore some people have argued that the brain can not control this emotion at all!

However..I think that it is the right side of our brain which controls our emotions and this is done through different hormones and chemicals which act in our brain and make us experience these different emotions.
