My work is only useful if it’s having an impact, so the prize money would help me reach more people and show them what science, engineering and my research are about. In particular I want to reach people who may not have realised that science is interesting and or that it’s something that they could do and give them a bit of a behind-the-scenes look.

I’m not sure i will receive the money as Sally is also a very good scientist but if i do i will be very very happy!! I will use the money to travel to schools and conferences to inform people about what i am doing. I am also currently running some studies that i do not have funding for (pilot studies) so i will use the money so i can buy equipment and run analysis on my blood samples.

If I were to win I would use the money to try and give more young people the opportunity to take part in my research with Aston Villa…it will be a really fun experience and I think the people that take part will learn a lot from it about health and fitness and how much activity you need to do to be healthy and those sorts of things! I would try and publicise it and visit as many schools and football clubs as I could to give people the chance to get involved!
