Yes! Fish take oxygen out of water using their gills. If the water quality gets too low then the oxygen levels fall and the fish can’t get enough. The fish dwowns in the water. The same is true if the gills are diseased and can’t capture the oxygen. It’s like thinking of a scuba diver. He doesn’t drown in the water becasue he is getting air (oxygen) from a tank. If the tank fails then he drowns.

Im not sure about this… Fish have gills which allow them to breathe under water as they can extract oxgyen from the water through them…so you wouldnt think they could drown! but I suppose if there was not enough oxygen in the water then maybe they could… A bit like a human would suffocate if they were in a place with not enough oxygen!

I don’t think so as they have gills which let them breathe under water however if there wasn’t enough oxygen then yes they could drown. I wish i had gills i would swim all day
