      I think so. Fish survive by breathing in oxygen which is in the water through their gills. so if there is not enough oxygen in the water (if it is really dirty and has loads of chemicals in it)…then the fish might not get enough oxygen to survive! its a bit like a human might suffocate in a room if there was not enough oxygen.
