No. When I was younger I wanted to be a dancer and I used to spend what seemed like my whole life at my dance school…then I thought I wanted to be a lawyer…then a doctor…then a P.E teacher and after I finished university I took a year off and went travelling and worked in a school for a while and decided I wanted to go into science research because It was what I enjoyed most when I was at University…so really I didn’t know until I was 21!

No i haven’t always wanted to be a scientist. I never knew what I wanted to be, when I was younger I wanted to be a gardener, mechanic or a football referee. It wasn’t until my 3rd year of University when I decided that I wanted to carry doing research and be a scientist.

I don’t think so. I thought about being a doctor or a vet, as I’ve always been interested in how the body works. I also took sport (horse-riding) very seriously at one point, and nearly made a career of it. I even went through a stage when I just wanted to be rich and forgot that it’s important to have fun!

No, when I was really young I wanted to be a firefighter, or a lifegard on a lifeboat. Then at high school wanted to be a writer for a while. I’d still like to write a novel one day. Then later on I thought i’d be a PE teacher, or work in as an activity instructor at an outdoor adventure camp. I did do this for a couple of summers actually and it was great fun but it wasn’t something I wanted to do as a career. It wasn’t until my 3rd year of Uni that I decided that I wanted to be a scientist.
