If you’ve hurt something you need to rest it. It hurts more if you use it because you’re stressing an already damaged body part so just making it worse.

Unless it is broken doctors sometimes tell you t walk on your ankle to stop it from getting stiff and to keep the blood flowing around it so that it heals. I know what you mean though i hurt my ankle once and i waned crutches and they wouldn’t let me!

If you hurt yourself you are normally injured for a while and so you have to rest while it recovers! It hurts more in sport because the movements you do are more varied and powerful so you probably use that part of your body more in ways you wouldnt normally.

Some injuries, such as muscle strains, need to keep moving, and some (tendon, ligament strains, fractures) need to rest.

Hurting more isn’t a good sign though – this normally means that it needs rest!

If you hurt yourself, say like twisting your ankle sometimes that pain is just short lived and there is no damage to the tissue in the joint. If you damage the tissue and the joint is swollen then you may have ruptured the ligaments. In this case don’t carry on playing sport. You need to treat your injury. The best way to do this is to rest it, put some ice on it, elevated it (sit with your foot on a chair infront of you) anc sometimes it can be good to bandage it to compress the damaged area. Why do people tell you to carry on when you’ve hurt yourself… i don’t know!
