• Question: how do you separate salt from the sea

      Well if you took the water out of the sea and boiled it then the water would evaporate and he salt would be left behind!

      To separate the salt from the sea you would have to evaporate the water. You can do a small experiment your self to try this out- put some salt into some water and then left it on the window ledge and in a few days the water will be gone and the salt will be in the container.

      Usually by evaporation in desalination plants to get fresh water in areas where fresh water is limited, such as the Canary Islands. However, it is a very high energy process.

      Evaporating off all the water. In Bahrain (where I used to live) salt collection is very successful but the de-salinated water (sea water where the salt has been removed) still tastes pretty salty, and dries out your hair!
