You have to work pretty hard and you have to be very persistent and self motivated.Sometimes you can feel like you really don’t understand something …you just don’t know what the answer is but you have to keep going and trying to figure it out…but once you do you fell great about it. But I think you have to work hard to be successfull at anything in life…no body who is successfull gets handed a free pass and they have all had their fair share of ups and downs as they have got there.

Very! GCSEs, then A-Levels, then a degree in Chemistry and then a research PhD in Chemistry. There has been a lot of fun along the way though… especially as a university student!

You do have to work hard but when you are doing some thing you love it doesn’t feel so much like hard work. One thing you do have to be is very motivated, there are times when things aren’t going your way and you don’t get the results or outcome you want and you have to keep going. Sometimes it takes me weeks and weeks to work something out but its so rewarding and feels so great when it all comes together.

Generally I have worked pretty hard so far. Sometimes harder than others though, and it’s a different sort of working hard to doing GCSEs & A Levels. I have control over what I do, I work on what I’m interested in and there’s no external exam board, so it’s never since been as stressful as I found A-levels!

I think that I should always do my best in whatever I am doing and make the most of my life. So whether I’m training for a race, playing a game of football, cleaning my house, having fun with my friends or working as a scientist I want to give it my all. I think to be the best in life that I can be I need to work hard at everything I do.

So, I had to work really hard to be a successful scientist and I’ll have work really hard to keep it up, and I will have to work really hard in everything that I do because I want to have a full life.
