Hayfever is an allergic reaction to the pollen in the air which comes from flowers and plants… only some people get hayfever because only some people are allergic to pollen..just like only some people are allerigc to things like nuts.

Your hayfever can be worse some years than others because it depends what type of pollen is in the air. The type of pollen can change each year and you might not be allergic to the new type. That is why some people can have hayfever for years and it can disappear..or some people can just develop it all of a sudden. I have hayfever and I got it when I was in year 8 at school but never had it before then!

There is no cure for it just anti-allergy tablets you can take which get rid of the allergic reaction. Someone also told me that if you eat local honey which the bees in the area have made (you can ge this from farm shops and places like that)..then this can help make your hayfever better!

Hayfever is an allergy to pollen and makes the inside of your nose swollen. That is why you feel bunged up and your nose runs. At the moment there is no cure of it but i’m sure some scientists somewhere are trying to find a cure of it.

It is the body’s immune system responding to foreign bodies in the respiratory tract. The body produces chemicals called histamines that cause irritation. We can treat it by taking anti-histamine drugs that block the actions of the chemical. I get hay fever, especially when oil seed rape is growing. Scientists are trying to cure hay fever by desensitising the body to the irritants (such as pollen) which aren’t really a threat to the body.
