Isaac Newton, he has taught us so much about the world.

Oh that’s hard. Isaac Newton has to take some beating, as my entire field is based on his laws of mechanics, a great model for the way the world works. On the biological side Julius Wolff discovered that bone adapts when you place a force on it, paving the way for biomechanics. Also Darwin comes very high for pure intuition – he changed the way people thought.

I think number one has to Leonardo Da Vinci. He wasn’t afraid to change the world, despite having very little to work with. He was an artist and an inventor but that doesn’t stop him from also being a great scientist.

No! There are some people who live and breath science. But they don’t have any outside interests (or children!). The best scientist of all time will be incredibly focused at the expense of everything else.

Sir Isaac Newton…a lot of what you learn about in school today was discovered by him! Things like gravity, the 3 laws of motion and alot about the spectrum of colours! without him the world would not be as we know it!

My favourite scientist of all time is Nicola Paine. She is one of my colleagues but she is very hard working and doing some excellent work looking at stress and how heart attacks happen. Heart disease is one of the biggest killers therefore i think her work is very crucial to peoples well being!!!
