I don’t know why some people would want to dislocate parts of their body. It sounds like it would really hurt. I wouldn’t recommend people dislocating their body parts too much as it might have an affect on them later in life. I know that some people are hyperflexible and they can’t help dislocating parts of their body.

The tendons holding the joints together become very lose so the joints can be ‘popped’. It is not a natural ability of the body but one that has been forced. The result is that joints will be prone to dislocate easily even when you don’t want them to which can be very dangerous. There is also a big possibility that you will develop arthritis in the joints. Therefore, not a good thing to be able to do!

some people are double jointed which means they can do this because their joints bend in funny ways…it is bad for you if you do it to much because you might wear out and damage the joint and have problems with it when you are older.

When people appear “double-jointed” they just have very mobile joints – the joints don’t actually dislocate. This can be due to slack ligaments (the tissue that holds the joints together), funny shaped joint ends, or just an inability to feel pain properly in the joints.

I don’t know why but I think that it’s people who are double jointed (i.e have very flexilble joints) can do this. I don’t think that it can be very good for you because they are losening their joints even further and then one day their joints might dislocate frequently without them wanting to do it.
