Alcohol makes you drunk because it interferes with your nervous system and proteins in your body which control your brain function. When it does this it causes our brain function to be altered and thats is basically what being drunk is! Some people can drink more than others because they can break the alcohol down quicker in their bodies so it doesn’t interfere with the brain as much.
Things which affect how quickly you can break down the alcohol are you weight and whether you are male or female (males can break down alcohol better than females).
It affects a part of your brain called the cerebellum. It can also have an effect on your nervous system which makes you feel dizzy. I’m not too sure how it does it though. I think alcohol affects all people in the same way however some people can get more quicker if they have not eaten much
Alcohol is a depresant and an anasthetic. It passes quickly from the stomach to the blood and gets transported to the brain where it sedates the central nervous system making you relaxed and drowsy. Some people get drunk faster because they can adsorb the alcohol quicker or because they are lighter. Some people also have an alcohol intolerance so get drunk very quickly.
Hangovers are not really due to the alcohol but breakdown products from the alcohol and impurities, usually aldehydes and ketones.
